Privacy Policy

Overview

Snowplango ("we", "our", or "us") is a ski forecast application. This policy describes what data we collect when you use the Snowplango iOS app, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We collect the minimum information needed to operate the service.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider. We store this to identify your account. We do not receive or store your password.

App preferences

We store your skiing style preference (powder, carving, groomer, or park), the ski resort collections you create, and the resorts you add to them.

Push notification token

If you grant notification permission, we store your device's Expo push token to send powder and carving alerts you explicitly configure. You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings or by disabling all alerts in the app.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect your location, browsing history, contacts, photos, or any information beyond what is described above.

How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate you and maintain your session
  • To save and sync your resort collections across devices
  • To send push notifications for powder and carving alerts you configure
  • To personalize forecast displays based on your skiing style preference

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services to function:

  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign In — for authentication. Subject to Google's and Apple's respective privacy policies.
  • Open-Meteo — for weather forecast data. Resort coordinates are sent to fetch forecasts. No personal data is transmitted.
  • Anthropic Claude — for generating AI conditions summaries. Summaries are generated from weather data only; no personal information is sent to Anthropic.
  • Expo (EAS) — for push notification delivery. Your push token is transmitted through Expo's infrastructure.

Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (AWS us-east-1). Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data — including your email, skiing style, and all collections — email us at hyunmin@meltpp.com with the subject "Delete my account". We will process the request within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Snowplango is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
